Estrel certainly ticks all the boxes when looking for a venue that values sustainability, their efforts are endless.
The hotel uses 100% green energy generated by hydropower stations on the European grid, alongside their solar panels situated on the convention centre roof.
Utilising the available space they have on their roof, Estrel have planted greenery which works as a natural climate regulator, capturing pollution particles, and also providing a home for insects. Their wildlife protection goes as far as fitting the hotel windows with protective film to reduce the risk of birds colliding with the glass panels
Acting as water warriors, the hotel rooms are equipped with water-saving showerheads and faucets. Within the convention hall, their greywater plumbing system is in operation, in which natural rainwater is collected and utilized for handwashing and flushing.
Other sustainable project taking place at Estrel are their waste management with rubbish separation, intricate recycling and reusable system, as well as trialling a compost system processing their organic waste to be used directly onsite. Their Greenhouse is located above on their hotel roof, where vegetables and herbs are grown to be used for their restaurant kitchens. In their efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, they source ingredients regionally from Brandenburg, as well as sourcing a range of non-alcoholic drinks exclusively from German suppliers. The Estrel checking the sustainability credentials of each of their suppliers, opting in for partnerships with certified sustainable companies wherever possible. To avoid food wastage, their “Estrel Share” program allows surplus food to be available to employees, as well as donating to local charities.
